Changes in human modes of living leave traces in the environment. How do we connect suburban modes of living with the land we live on? What do we think about how and where we live? Referential character and contrasting qualities of commonly found materials with traditional methods of manipulating them can reveal an experience of the suburban environment that shows signs of emotional and spiritual connection with the land.

I wanted to record and react to local extensive building of new housing estates to try and capture the change in land use and this led to a project called 'Silverhouses', about which you can read more on my blog janettryner.blogspot.com and more about my other work at anatomyofasmile.blogspot.com.
