Polygalls

Based on shape of knopper oak wasp galls. These are produced as an extended phenotype of combined wasp and oak tree DNA produced by the oak in response to the wasp's parasitical predation. By creating a hanging and spinning soft sculpture of these modelled in salvaged heavy density polythene draws some parallels to our parasitcal yet dependent relationship with our environment.

Polygalls was developed during my graduate residency with Coventry Artspace 2019. It has been exhibited at The Herbert Art Gallery Open 2023; Cellophane Wrapper, Proteus Art Space, Basingstoke 2023, Flora & Fauna Exhibition, Bromsgrove 2022 and at my solo show Library of Litter, 2021.
